Our newest recruit, Hayley Wilkins, who will take charge of our latest service, Magellan House, has a career in care spanning some eight years. In that time she’s undertaken numerous roles ranging from care support worker right up to senior positions.
Most recently Hayley, from East Grinstead, was employed as home manager for a leading service provider. While there, she spearheaded the creation and planning of activities, including a panel-judged talent show and valentines disco. Achieving tremendous results overall, Hayley played a pivotal role in completely transforming the lives of five residents.
Hayley’s outstanding work garnered attention from a national awards body – and in 2015 she was nominated for a National Learning Disabilities Award, beating 10 other nominees to the accolade of Support Worker of the Year. She also won an award from a separate body for activities coordinator of the year in 2015.
Fundraising has always been central to Hayley’s professional career; she’s helped raise tens of thousands of pounds to support the homes she’s worked in and the people she’s worked with. One such fundraiser saw her and a resident take to the skies for a tandem skydive, raising £11,500 for the home and its residents.
Commenting on her new position, Hayley said: ‘I’m delighted to be taking charge of Pathway Healthcare’s new service in East Grinstead. I believe I can use all my experience in the sector and background in fundraising to really help Magellan House become a special place for residents and their families.”
Managing Director of the Pathway Healthcare group, Dillen Iyavoo, commented: “We’ve got ourselves a really good manager in Hayley. It’s clear to see from her glittering background that she is more than willing to go above and beyond what is required to give so much more back to residents. That sort of attitude is exactly what we like to see from our managers.”
